Cumulative Decoding Centres and Printable Activities
UFLI Lessons 9–12
Give your students meaningful, independent phonics practice with this complete set of cumulative decoding activities created to follow UFLI Lessons 9 through 12.
This package brings together four complete lesson companions with 112 pages of teacher guidance, hands on activities, real photograph cards, low prep printables, assessment tools and answer keys. Each activity is designed to help children practise previously learned skills while gradually adding new phonics concepts.
Lessons included:
Lesson 9
Letter n and the sound /n/
Lesson 10
Cumulative practice with short a and short i CVC words
Lesson 11
Nasalized a in an and am
Lesson 12
Letter o and the short o sound /ŏ/
Each lesson follows the same predictable activity routine:
Hear It
Students listen for the target sound, tap phonemes and practise oral blending.
Match It
Students connect words, letters or word patterns with real photographs. This supports vocabulary development while strengthening sound symbol connections.
Build It
Students map sounds, select letters, build words and read what they have created. The activities move children from oral sound work into printed word reading.
Find It
Students search for letters, sounds and decodable words in mixed practice activities. This helps develop automatic recognition and encourages children to apply their learning independently.
Show It
Students demonstrate what they know through reading, sound mapping, word building, writing and oral language tasks.

Junior Kindergarten students can focus on tactile, play based and oral activities without being expected to complete pencil and paper work.
Senior Kindergarten students can use the same activities with greater independence and begin adding drawing, labelling or writing when developmentally appropriate.
This makes the package easy to use in a two year Kindergarten classroom with a wide range of learning needs.
Ontario Kindergarten Curriculum 2026
The activities support foundational literacy, communication, self regulation and independent learning within the Ontario Kindergarten program.
The package is also suitable for Pre K, Kindergarten, Grade 1, homeschool and early intervention settings.
