Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes
Interactive Kindergarten Read-Aloud Lesson Pack
Help your kindergarten learners explore their school, practise important routines and build confidence with this playful, movement-filled read-aloud lesson!
Inspired by Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes by Eric Litwin, this interactive lesson invites children to notice the different places visited during a school day and connect each location with an action, routine, movement or sound.
During the read-aloud, children listen for changes in setting, discuss what happens in each school space and create simple movements and sounds to represent the locations. The class then uses the included photographic School Place Cards to build and perform its own school-day soundtrack.
This is an engaging way to introduce or revisit school spaces, transitions and classroom expectations without turning routine learning into a lecture.
